Putin's Warning: Iran Lacks Support if US Strikes

Russia’s Position: No Defense for Iran Against US Bombing

Recent developments indicate that Russia has signaled it will not intervene militarily to defend Iran if the United States initiates military action against the country. Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko stated that Russia is not obligated to protect Iran in such a scenario, despite their strategic partnership.

This position emerges amid escalating tensions over Iran’s nuclear program. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has advocated for a “Libya-style” solution, referencing Libya’s 2003 agreement to dismantle its weapons of mass destruction under international supervision. Netanyahu insists that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons and suggests dismantling Iran’s nuclear facilities under American oversight if diplomatic efforts fail.

The United States, under President Donald Trump, has intensified pressure on Tehran by threatening military action and increasing its regional military presence. President Trump has warned that failure to reach a new nuclear agreement could lead to unprecedented bombing of Iran.

Despite its stance on non-intervention, Russia has condemned U.S. threats of military strikes against Iran, labeling them as unacceptable and potentially catastrophic. The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized the illegality of using military force to resolve such issues and warned that any strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities could lead to irreversible regional disaster.

In response to these threats, Iran remains defiant. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has refused negotiations and warned of retaliation if attacked. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons and invited U.S. investors to engage with Iran, signaling a willingness for diplomatic engagement.
