The political climate in Ogun State has taken another heated turn as Ladi Adebutu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, has accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of orchestrating a smear campaign against him.
At the center of the dispute is a ₦72 million bill allegedly linked to Adebutu, which critics argue is being amplified for political reasons. Adebutu insists that the charges are fabricated and timed to discredit him ahead of crucial political contests in the state.
“This is nothing but a witch-hunt,” Adebutu declared, alleging that the Abiodun-led administration is weaponizing state institutions to intimidate opposition voices.
