A group of retired soldiers has resumed protests over unpaid benefits, demanding that the Federal Government address their long-standing grievances. The veterans gathered peacefully, calling for the immediate release of their entitlements, which they said have been delayed for several years.
According to the ex-servicemen, the delay in payment has left many of them struggling to survive after serving the nation. They noted that several appeals and meetings with relevant authorities have not yielded results, leaving them with no choice but to return to the streets.
The protesting soldiers explained that some of their colleagues have died while waiting for the payments, stressing that the government must act urgently to prevent further hardship. They urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to prioritize their welfare, reminding the nation of the sacrifices they made to protect Nigeria.
The veterans vowed to continue their demonstrations until their demands are met, stating that they would not relent until justice is served. They also called on the Ministry of Defence and other relevant agencies to ensure transparency in the handling of their entitlements.
