Atiku ADC membership ultimatum Adamawa
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has issued a stern ultimatum to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, urging him to officially pick up the party’s membership card if he intends to align with its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Rising from an emergency stakeholders’ meeting in Yola, ADC leaders said Atiku’s silence on his political future has created uncertainty among his supporters in the state.
“We welcome His Excellency Atiku Abubakar to work with us, but he must make it formal. He has to come down to his ward and collect the ADC membership card. We cannot operate on assumptions,” said Ibrahim Gombi, ADC state chairman.
The ultimatum comes amid growing speculation about Atiku’s next political move after the 2023 elections, with both the ADC and factions within the PDP and Labour Party vying for his influence ahead of 2027.
Analysts believe the ADC’s move is a strategic attempt to consolidate its base in Adamawa, where Atiku enjoys massive grassroots support.
