Otti to build modern fire station in Umuahia
The Abia State Government has announced plans to construct a modern fire station in Umuahia, the state capital, as part of efforts to improve emergency response and safety infrastructure.
According to government officials, the project, initiated under the directive of Governor Alex Otti, will feature state-of-the-art firefighting equipment, modern communication systems, and residential quarters for fire personnel.
Speaking to journalists in Umuahia, the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Mr. Chukwunenye Nwogu, said the new fire station will help reduce response time to emergencies and strengthen the state’s capacity to tackle fire outbreaks effectively.
He added that the facility will also serve as a training centre for firefighters across Abia State, promoting professionalism and readiness in handling modern fire disasters.
Governor Otti’s administration has consistently prioritized safety, urban renewal, and infrastructure development, with this project marking another milestone in the state’s modernization agenda.
