Vin Diesel cleared of sexual battery allegations
Actor Vin Diesel has been cleared of the sexual battery allegations brought against him by his former assistant, Asta Jonasson, over an incident she claimed occurred during the filming of Fast 5. A Los Angeles judge dismissed the lawsuit after determining that California did not have the legal jurisdiction to rule on a matter that allegedly took place in Georgia. The decision was based entirely on legal grounds and did not address whether the alleged incident happened.
Jonasson had filed the lawsuit in 2023, initially presenting ten claims against the actor. Earlier in the case, four of those claims were dismissed due to the statute of limitations. The remaining six were removed after the court ruled that California law could not be applied to an incident outside the state. Jonasson’s legal team described the dismissal as a technical outcome rather than a vindication, emphasizing that no factual determination was made.
Vin Diesel’s legal representatives welcomed the ruling, stating that the allegations were unfounded and expressing relief that the case had been dismissed. Jonasson is still considering whether to appeal the decision, leaving the possibility of further legal action open.
