C’River Orders Commercial Vehicles to Use Approved Colours
The Cross River State Government has directed all commercial vehicles operating within the state to adopt officially approved colours as part of efforts to improve security, regulation, and public safety in the transport sector. The directive applies to taxis, buses, tricycles, and other categories of commercial vehicles across the state.
The government said the move is aimed at enhancing easy identification of registered commercial vehicles, reducing criminal activities, and strengthening enforcement of transport regulations. Authorities explained that uniform vehicle colours would make it easier for security agencies and road traffic officials to monitor operations and track offenders.
Officials noted that the policy would also help curb the activities of illegal transport operators and improve overall orderliness in the state’s transportation system. Commercial vehicle owners have been advised to comply with the directive within the stipulated timeframe to avoid penalties.
The directive was issued by the Cross River State Government as part of broader reforms in the transport sector under the administration of Governor Bassey Otu. The government reiterated its commitment to creating a safer and more organised urban transport environment for residents and visitors.
Transport unions and stakeholders have been urged to sensitise their members on the new colour codes and compliance requirements. Enforcement is expected to commence after an awareness and adjustment period, during which operators are expected to repaint or brand their vehicles accordingly.
Residents have welcomed the move, describing it as a step that could improve security, accountability, and professionalism within the commercial transport sector in Cross River State.
