Buku Abi Opens Up About Life Under R. Kelly’s Shadow
In a new documentary trailer set to be released on October 11, R. Kelly’s daughter, Joann Kelly, also known as Buku Abi, emotionally breaks down while discussing the traumatic impact her father’s alleged actions have had on her life.
Joann, along with her mother, Drea Kelly (R. Kelly’s ex-wife), opens up about her painful experiences growing up under the shadow of her father’s abusive behavior.
She describes R. Kelly as “her everything” but admits that a single moment of realizing what he had done changed her entire life. She expresses her heartbreak and disbelief at his actions, which have deeply affected her and her family.
Joann also touches on the difficult decision to keep her son away from visiting his grandfather in prison, stating that if her son asks questions, she will be as honest as possible.
The documentary highlights not only her personal pain but also how the entire family continues to cope with the fallout of R. Kelly’s legal troubles and convictions related to sex trafficking and abuse of minors
