Air Peace flight delays Lagos rain
Passengers of Air Peace on Thursday experienced significant delays at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, following heavy rainfall that disrupted flight operations.
The downpour, which lasted for hours, led to poor visibility and waterlogged runways, forcing pilots and airline officials to adjust schedules for safety reasons. Several flights were delayed, while some departures were rescheduled to later in the day.
Eyewitnesses at the airport reported long queues at boarding gates and visibly frustrated passengers. Airline officials, however, assured travelers that safety remained their top priority, explaining that weather conditions were beyond their control.
An Air Peace spokesperson confirmed the delays, adding that normal operations resumed once weather conditions improved. The airline apologized to affected passengers for the inconvenience caused.
Aviation experts say the incident highlights the vulnerability of Nigeria’s air transport system to extreme weather, urging continued investment in airport drainage and navigation technology to reduce future disruptions.
