APC secretary arrested in Yobe over woman’s death
The Yobe State Police Command has arrested the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretary for Karasuwa Local Government Area, Abdulmumini Garba, in connection with the death of a 45-year-old woman identified as Falmata Abubakar. The woman, who was a food vendor, was found dead near the Federal University Gashua campus in Bade Local Government Area.
According to police investigations, Garba confessed that he had given Falmata a ride in his car before an argument broke out between them over her request for financial support to expand her business. During the altercation, the woman allegedly died inside his vehicle. Garba reportedly admitted to dumping her body in a bush near the university late that night.
The Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the arrest and assured that the investigation was ongoing. The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended the officers involved for their swift action and promised that the suspect would be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.
Residents of the area have expressed shock and called on the authorities to ensure that justice is served. They also urged the government to increase awareness and protection for women in the state, emphasizing the need for stronger community policing to prevent similar incidents.
