Bandits kill eight in Southern Kaduna attack
At least eight people have been confirmed dead and 20 others injured after suspected bandits launched an attack on a community in Southern Kaduna.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers invaded the area late at night, shooting sporadically and burning houses. Residents fled in different directions as the assailants unleashed violence that lasted for several hours.
Local vigilante groups and security forces later responded, but not before significant casualties and destruction had occurred. Survivors are currently receiving treatment at nearby hospitals, while displaced families are taking refuge in neighboring communities.
The Kaduna State Government condemned the attack, describing it as “senseless and barbaric.” It assured residents that security operations have been intensified to track down the perpetrators and restore peace to the area.
Community leaders have called for stronger security presence and urgent humanitarian support for victims, warning that repeated attacks have left many villages vulnerable and traumatized.
