Dangote Refinery denies petrol unit shutdown
The management of the Dangote Refinery has debunked reports suggesting that its petrol production unit may be shut down.
In a statement released on Friday, the refinery clarified that operations remain stable and that there is no plan to halt petrol output, contrary to speculations making the rounds. The company assured Nigerians that it remains committed to meeting local fuel demands and reducing the country’s dependence on imports.
The management further explained that routine maintenance and technical adjustments should not be misinterpreted as shutdowns, stressing that its facilities are designed to operate with efficiency and reliability.
Industry watchers believe the clarification will calm growing concerns over possible fuel shortages following recent disputes with labour unions. The refinery urged the public to disregard rumours and rely on verified information from official sources.
The Dangote Refinery, which is regarded as Africa’s largest, has been positioned as a game-changer in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector by significantly cutting fuel import bills and creating thousands of jobs.
