Delta woman arrested for stabbing lover
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old woman, identified only as Lilian, for allegedly stabbing her 34-year-old partner, Ayo Omoseni, to death during a domestic dispute. The incident occurred in the Jakpa Road area of Warri North Local Government Area.
Incident Details
According to police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe, Lilian and Omoseni had been cohabiting for four years and have two children together. The altercation began when Lilian sought assistance from a neighbor to load their electricity meter, a request Omoseni had previously denied. This action reportedly angered Omoseni, leading to a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, Lilian claimed that Omoseni assaulted her, smashing her head onto the floor. In response, she retrieved a dagger from the kitchen and fatally stabbed him in the chest. Despite her efforts to seek medical help, Omoseni succumbed to his injuries.
Police Response
Lilian was arrested and is currently in police custody. SP Edafe expressed concern over the circumstances leading to the incident, highlighting issues related to anger management and societal influences. He questioned the roles of the individual, society, and the suspect’s upbringing in contributing to the tragedy.
