Fubara emergency rule Rivers State
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has explained why he chose not to legally challenge the emergency rule declared in parts of the state, despite mounting pressure from political allies.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Port Harcourt, Fubara said his decision was guided by a desire to maintain peace and stability rather than plunge the state into a prolonged political crisis.
“It is not everything that requires a fight in court. Sometimes, you allow certain things to stand for the greater good of the people you are serving,” he stated.
The governor emphasized that his administration is committed to dialogue and reconciliation, stressing that prolonged disputes with federal authorities could disrupt governance and development projects.
Political observers note that while Fubara’s stance has attracted criticism from some party loyalists, it may also help reduce tension in a state often beset by political rivalries.
He assured residents that his government would continue to prioritize security, economic growth, and social welfare, regardless of the political circumstances.
