Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic boat accident that claimed several lives in Niger State.
In a condolence message, Obi described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that many innocent Nigerians continue to lose their lives to preventable accidents. He called on both the federal and state governments to intensify efforts in providing safer transport systems, especially in riverine communities.
Obi emphasized that tragedies of this nature expose the urgent need for investment in modern infrastructure, strict enforcement of safety standards, and effective emergency response systems. He further urged authorities to prioritize the welfare of citizens by addressing recurring safety lapses.
He extended his prayers to the families of the victims, asking God to grant them strength during this difficult period.
