Police link Lagos riverbank bodies to cult violence
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that five bodies discovered along a riverbank in the state are linked to cult-related violence.
According to police sources, the victims are suspected members of rival cult groups who clashed in the area. Preliminary investigations suggest the killings were the result of a violent confrontation between the groups, which later escalated into multiple fatalities.
Residents reportedly alerted authorities after spotting the bodies, sparking panic in the community. Security operatives have since been deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further violence.
The Police Command assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible. Commissioner of Police in Lagos State reiterated the commitment of security agencies to clamp down on cultism, warning that perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.
Community leaders have also called for greater collaboration between residents and security agencies to curb the growing menace of cult-related violence in Lagos.
