Washington, D.C. — U.S. President Donald Trump has delivered an extraordinary and stark warning to Iran, saying that his administration would respond with overwhelming force — including effectively “blowing up” the entire country — if Tehran were ever to act on alleged threats to assassinate him.
Trump made the remarks during an interview on NewsNation’s “Katie Pavlich Tonight,” where he addressed ongoing tensions with Iran and claims that Iranian leaders have made threats against his life. The president emphasized that he has issued “very firm instructions” outlining the United States’ response should such an attempt occur.
“They shouldn’t be doing it, but I’ve left notification,” Trump said when asked about the alleged threats. “Anything ever happens, we’re going to blow the whole — the whole country is going to get blown up.” He added that if Iran were to pursue an assassination attempt, “they’re going to wipe them off the face of this earth.”
Trump sharply criticized former President Joe Biden for what he described as a less forceful response to earlier threats from Tehran. According to Trump, past administrations failed to deter such rhetoric, a situation he says he has sought to change by making clear the potential consequences for Iran.
“If they were making that threat to somebody — not even a president, but somebody like they did with me — I would absolutely hit them so hard,” Trump said. “But I have very firm instructions — anything happens, they’re going to wipe them off the face of this earth.”
