Surgeons remove spoons toothbrushes pens from stomach
Doctors in India have successfully removed a shocking collection of foreign objects — including 29 spoons, 19 toothbrushes, and several pens — from the stomach of a male patient.
According to hospital officials, the patient was admitted after complaining of severe abdominal pain and difficulty eating. Medical scans revealed dozens of metallic and plastic items lodged in his digestive tract.
A surgical team conducted a lengthy operation to extract the items, describing the case as one of the most unusual they had ever encountered.
“The patient suffers from a rare psychiatric disorder known as pica, which compels individuals to eat non-food items. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and he is now in stable condition,” the lead surgeon explained.
Doctors said the man will undergo psychiatric evaluation and long-term therapy to prevent a recurrence.
The bizarre case has since gone viral, with health experts stressing the importance of mental health awareness and early intervention.
