Nigeria’s Super Eagles camp in Uyo has welcomed thirteen players as preparations gather momentum for the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and South Africa. The first arrivals on Monday included captain William Troost-Ekong, goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, and midfielders Felix Agu and Raphael Onyedika, marking the official start of the training camp.
On Tuesday morning, nine more players joined, providing a major boost to the squad. Among the arrivals were Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Moses Simon, Chidozie Awaziem, Adebayo Adeleye, and Benjamin Fredericks. Their presence increased the tally to thirteen, leaving several other key names expected to report before the team’s first training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
Head coach Eric Chelle is overseeing preparations as Nigeria looks to make a strong statement in Group C of the World Cup qualifiers. Key players including Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Wilfred Ndidi, Samuel Chukwueze, and Cyriel Dessers are still expected to arrive. The Super Eagles will host Rwanda this weekend in Uyo before traveling to South Africa for the second qualifier, with both matches crucial to securing a return to the World Cup stage.
