Tom Cruise Taylor Swift: Actor Says She “Schooled” Him on Football at Chiefs Game
Tom Cruise Reveals His Conversation With Taylor Swift
Tom Cruise has revealed what he and Taylor Swift discussed when they sat together at the Kansas City Chiefs’ season opener.
The actor appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, September 17, where host Jimmy Fallon asked about the unusual pairing.
Cruise said Swift was “schooling me on football” during the game.
The 64-year-old actor attended the Chiefs’ game against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium on September 14. Swift was there to support her husband, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Cruise confirmed that Swift was genuinely teaching him about the sport.
“She was bringing the football,” he said, while also praising her knowledge of the game.
Swift Has Learned Football
Swift has become a familiar face at Chiefs games since her relationship with Kelce began.
However, Cruise recalled that she once knew very little about football before meeting the NFL star.
He said Swift told him that Kelce had been patient while she learned about the sport.
According to Cruise, Swift is now much more comfortable discussing football.
“She knows her stuff,” he said during the interview.
Cruise also joked about Swift’s early questions about the sport and her relationship with Kelce. His comments highlighted how much her knowledge of football has changed since she began dating the Chiefs tight end.
Cruise Praises Taylor Swift
Cruise did not limit his praise to Swift’s football knowledge.
The Mission: Impossible star described her as a genius and said he has followed her career since she was young.
He also praised her work across several creative fields.
Cruise said the two talked about music and movies during the game. He described Swift as funny and praised her sense of humor.
He also called her a brilliant writer, musician and director.
Swift has directed several music videos and directed All Too Well: The Short Film. She has also been developing her work behind the camera as she prepares for her feature directorial debut.
Tom Cruise Enjoyed the Chiefs Game
The Chiefs game was also notable because Cruise had not attended an NFL game for several years.
He told Fallon that he had not been to a football game since before the COVID-19 pandemic because of his work schedule.
That made his experience at Arrowhead Stadium particularly memorable.
Cruise watched alongside Swift and other guests in the suite as Kansas City faced Denver in the team’s first game of the 2026 NFL season.
The Chiefs won the game 31-10, while Kelce recorded three catches for 71 yards.
Cruise and Swift Have Crossed Paths Before
The Chiefs game was not the first time Cruise and Swift have been connected publicly.
Cruise attended Swift’s Eras Tour performance in London in 2024.
He was also among the guests at Swift and Kelce’s wedding in New York City on July 3, 2026.
Their latest meeting therefore brought together two major figures from film and music in a setting centered on Kelce and the Chiefs.
More Than a Football Conversation
Cruise’s comments show that his conversation with Swift went beyond the game.
The two discussed music and movies, while Cruise also praised Swift’s creative abilities.
Their interaction quickly attracted attention after cameras captured them talking during the Chiefs’ season opener.
Cruise is currently promoting his upcoming movie Digger, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu.
For Swift, the appearance came as she continues to balance her music career with her public life alongside Kelce.
Cruise’s account of the evening offered a lighter look at their conversation, while also highlighting Swift’s growing familiarity with football and her work across music and filmmaking.
