Wike scolds AMAC Chair over street naming
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has reprimanded the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) for the arbitrary naming of streets across the city.
Wike, during a briefing in Abuja, expressed displeasure over what he described as a lack of order and coordination in the naming process. He said several streets had been named without proper authorization or adherence to established guidelines, leading to confusion for residents and visitors.
The minister directed AMAC officials to suspend all unauthorized naming activities and warned that any street names not approved by the FCT administration would be revoked.
Wike stressed that street naming in the capital must reflect national values, historical significance, and proper urban planning standards. He vowed to enforce stricter oversight to maintain Abuja’s organized structure.
