Yahaya Bello ₦640m withdrawal Kogi EFCC
A prosecution witness has told a Federal High Court in Abuja that ₦640 million was withdrawn from Kogi State Government accounts within six days during the tenure of former governor Yahaya Bello.
Testifying before Justice Emeka Nwite, the witness, an investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said the withdrawals were made through multiple cash transactions between July 26 and August 1, 2021.
According to him, the funds were allegedly moved without proper documentation and were traced to accounts linked to political associates of the former governor. The EFCC maintains that the transactions formed part of a larger probe into the alleged diversion of state funds during Bello’s administration.
The court adjourned the case for further hearing, while the defence team maintained that the withdrawals were legitimate government expenditures.
