Singer Lil Nas X Released from Jail: Analyzing the 4 Felonies Ahead
Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, was released from jail on August 25, 2025, after posting a $75,000 bail following his arrest in Los Angeles on August 21, 2025.
He faces four felony charges: three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer, stemming from an incident where he allegedly charged at and assaulted officers while walking nearly naked on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.
The Los Angeles Police Department suspected a possible drug overdose, leading to his brief hospitalization before booking. Lil Nas X pleaded not guilty to all charges during his arraignment at Los Angeles Superior Court in Van Nuys, with a preliminary hearing set for September 15, 2025. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.
His attorney, Christy O’Connor, called the incident an “absolute aberration” in his life, denying confirmed drug use pending test results.
His father, Robert Stafford, also denied drug allegations, stating his son was in “great spirits” and remorseful.
