Lagos tenancy bill landlords tenants Sanwo-Olu
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured residents that the proposed Lagos Tenancy Bill will strike a fair balance between the rights of landlords and tenants across the state.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ forum on housing and tenancy regulation, Sanwo-Olu said the bill is designed to eliminate exploitation, promote transparency, and ensure peaceful coexistence in rental agreements.
He explained that the legislation aims to modernize tenancy laws, protect vulnerable tenants from unfair eviction, and also safeguard landlords from defaulting occupants. The governor emphasized that the goal is not to favor any group but to create a legal framework that ensures justice and accountability for all parties.
Sanwo-Olu urged the public to contribute to the ongoing review process to make the bill more inclusive and effective once passed into law.
