
Tajudeen Abbas prioritises electoral and security bills
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has announced that the National Assembly will give top priority to electoral and security-related bills as lawmakers resume plenary.
Abbas said the focus is to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions and address the persistent security challenges facing the nation. He explained that proposed reforms to the Electoral Act would aim to improve transparency, technology use, and citizens’ confidence in future elections.
On security, the Speaker noted that new legislation will support better coordination among security agencies, enhanced funding, and community-based intelligence gathering. He urged lawmakers to approach the legislative session with renewed commitment to national development.
Abbas also reaffirmed the House’s resolve to collaborate with the executive arm of government in passing impactful laws that promote stability and growth.
