Akpabio Akume beg Nigerians Tinubu reforms
Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume have appealed to Nigerians to remain patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his administration continues implementing economic and governance reforms.
Speaking at separate events, the two top government officials acknowledged the hardships currently faced by citizens but insisted that Tinubu’s policies are designed to deliver long-term benefits. They argued that the president inherited a fragile economy and is taking bold steps to stabilize the nation despite short-term pains.
Akpabio assured Nigerians that the reforms, though tough, will eventually ease inflation, boost productivity, and create sustainable jobs. Akume echoed the same sentiments, emphasizing that sacrifices are necessary to reposition the country for lasting prosperity.
The appeal comes amid rising criticism of the government’s policies, including subsidy removal and foreign exchange reforms, which have led to higher fuel and living costs. Many Nigerians have expressed frustration over the immediate impact, questioning when relief will be felt.
Supporters of the administration, however, believe Tinubu’s approach mirrors global economic recovery models that demand patience before positive results become visible.
