Anambra Government to Prosecute Woman for Alleged Maid Abuse in Awka
The Anambra State Government has announced that it will prosecute a woman accused of severely assaulting her housemaid by allegedly burning her with a hot pressing iron in Awka, the state capital.
The disturbing incident, which reportedly occurred in a residential area of Awka, sparked widespread outrage after photos and videos showing the young girl’s injuries circulated on social media. The images revealed multiple burn marks on the victim’s body, prompting swift reactions from residents, activists, and child rights organizations demanding justice.
Officials from the Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody pending further investigation.
