Caleb University Vice Chancellor seven-point agenda
The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, Professor Noah Olayinka Oyedeji, has unveiled a seven-point strategic agenda designed to reposition the institution as a leading center of academic innovation, research excellence, and moral development in Nigeria.
Speaking during his official assumption of office at the university’s main campus, Prof. Oyedeji said his vision is to build upon Caleb University’s existing legacy of academic quality while introducing bold reforms that will prepare students for global competitiveness.
“My administration will focus on producing graduates who are not only intellectually sound but also morally upright, innovative, and globally relevant,” the VC declared.
The seven-point agenda
According to Prof. Oyedeji, the new administration’s policy direction will revolve around the following seven key pillars:
- Academic Excellence and Research Innovation:
Strengthening teaching standards, promoting interdisciplinary research, and improving the university’s publication output in reputable international journals. - Digital Transformation:
Expanding e-learning platforms, digital libraries, and IT infrastructure to support virtual learning and administrative efficiency. - Staff and Student Welfare:
Prioritizing welfare packages, professional development, and conducive learning environments to motivate staff and enhance student experience. - Global Partnerships and Collaboration:
Establishing new exchange programs, research linkages, and institutional partnerships with universities in Africa, Europe, and North America. - Entrepreneurship and Innovation:
Revamping the university’s entrepreneurship center to promote practical skill acquisition, startups, and industry-driven innovations among students. - Infrastructure and Facility Upgrade:
Modernizing lecture halls, laboratories, and hostels, while investing in renewable energy solutions to ensure sustainable campus operations. - Moral and Spiritual Development:
Reinforcing the university’s Christian foundation by nurturing character, discipline, and service-oriented leadership among students.
Building continuity and excellence
Prof. Oyedeji, a distinguished scholar and former Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), emphasized that his vision aligns with the founding mission of Caleb University to blend faith, knowledge, and service.
He lauded his predecessor for laying a solid foundation and promised to consolidate on the institution’s gains in accreditation, research growth, and student enrollment.
“We will not abandon the core values of this university — godliness, diligence, and integrity. Rather, we will integrate them into modern educational practices that meet the demands of the 21st century,” he said.
Commitment to national development
The VC also pledged to make Caleb University a hub for national development by focusing on community impact projects, youth empowerment, and innovative research that addresses real societal needs.
He called on stakeholders — students, alumni, faculty, and parents — to collaborate with the new leadership in realizing the university’s goals.
“Transformation cannot be achieved in isolation. It requires teamwork, dedication, and a shared vision. Together, we will take Caleb University to greater heights,” he concluded.
