CCTV Reveals Moment Man Poses as Customer to Steal Plumber’s Phone in Lagos State
A closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording has captured the moment a man allegedly posed as a customer before stealing a plumber’s mobile phone in Lagos, an incident that has since gone viral on social media.
According to reports, the incident occurred at a residential or work location in Lagos where the plumber was carrying out a routine job. The suspect reportedly approached the plumber under the guise of making enquiries or requesting services, appearing calm and unassuming.
The CCTV footage shows the man engaging the plumber in conversation, seemingly to distract him. While the plumber’s attention was diverted, the suspect allegedly picked up the mobile phone that had been placed nearby and concealed it before quietly walking away.
The plumber was said to have discovered the phone was missing moments later, prompting a review of the security footage. Upon checking the CCTV recording, the victim reportedly identified the suspect’s actions and shared the video online to raise awareness and possibly aid identification.
The video has since attracted widespread reactions from social media users, many of whom expressed concern over the growing trend of opportunistic theft in Lagos. Some commenters advised artisans and workers to be extra cautious with their personal belongings, especially while working in unfamiliar environments.
