Cross River new Head of Service
Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has sworn in a new Head of Service, charging him to reposition the state’s civil service for greater efficiency and accountability.
At the ceremony held in Calabar, the governor described the appointment as a strategic move to strengthen governance, improve service delivery, and restore professionalism in the state’s public sector.
He urged the new Head of Service to uphold transparency, discipline, and dedication, stressing that the civil service remains the backbone of effective governance.
“This administration is committed to reforms that will improve productivity. I expect you to drive these reforms with integrity and commitment to the people of Cross River,” Otu said.
The new appointee pledged loyalty to the state government and promised to focus on staff welfare, capacity building, and digitalization of civil service operations.
Stakeholders present at the event expressed optimism that the leadership change will enhance efficiency and help address lingering challenges such as delayed promotions, pension arrears, and poor record-keeping.
