Kelsey Mitchell Sets WNBA Scoring Record as Caitlin Clark Leads Fever Past Sky 90-86
Kelsey Mitchell delivered another remarkable scoring performance as the Indiana Fever defeated the Chicago Sky 90-86, with Caitlin Clark also producing a huge offensive night in the closely contested WNBA matchup.
Mitchell finished with 27 points, extending her streak of consecutive games with at least 20 points to 16 and setting a new WNBA single-season record for that achievement. The Indiana guard shot 11 of 22 from the field and connected on three 3-pointers.

Clark finished with 26 points and 11 assists, while making five 3-pointers. The performance marked the eighth time in her career that she has recorded at least 25 points, 10 assists and five 3-pointers in a game. According to the Fever, that achievement has occurred only four other times in WNBA history among other players combined.
The Fever also received an important contribution from Aliyah Boston, who recorded 13 points and 11 rebounds. Makayla Timpson added 10 points as Indiana improved to 20-12.
The game was not without controversy.
Chicago’s DiJonai Carrington was ejected during the first quarter after receiving a Flagrant 2 foul on Indiana’s Sophie Cunningham. The incident added intensity to an already emotional matchup between the two teams.
Despite the disruption, Indiana maintained control for much of the game.
The Fever turned a tied contest into a 46-33 advantage during the second quarter after Mitchell scored eight straight points and Clark followed with a 3-pointer during a 13-0 Indiana run. The Fever eventually entered halftime with a 53-42 lead.
Chicago refused to go away.
Natasha Cloud and reserve Rachel Banham each scored 17 points for the Sky, while Kamilla Cardoso added 14 points and nine rebounds. Chicago continued to pressure Indiana throughout the second half and kept the game within striking distance until the final minutes.
The Sky ultimately fell short, dropping to 12-2 in the game statistics reported for the matchup.
For Indiana, the victory was another example of the team’s offensive firepower when Mitchell and Clark are both playing at a high level.
The backcourt combination has become one of the most dangerous scoring partnerships in the WNBA. Mitchell’s ability to consistently attack the basket and shoot from outside complements Clark’s playmaking and long-range shooting.

Clark said afterward that she believed the league made the correct decision.
The result against Chicago also strengthened Indiana’s position during an important stretch of the season. With the Fever relying heavily on the scoring combination of Clark and Mitchell, their continued availability is critical as the regular season progresses.
For Mitchell, however, the biggest story remains her record.
Scoring at least 20 points in 16 consecutive games is an extraordinary level of consistency in a league filled with elite offensive talent. It demonstrates not only her ability to produce big numbers but also her reliability from game to game.
