Lady Abducted in Edo Regains Her Freedom
A young woman who was abducted by suspected kidnappers in Edo State earlier this week has regained her freedom following the swift intervention of security operatives.
The victim, whose name was withheld for security reasons, was reportedly kidnapped along the Benin-Auchi Road, a route notorious for frequent abductions and robbery incidents.
Confirming her release, the Edo State Police Command spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the rescue was made possible through coordinated efforts between the police, local vigilante groups, and community informants.
“The lady was rescued safely after intense pressure was mounted on the kidnappers, who eventually fled the scene. No ransom was paid,” Nwabuzor stated.
He added that security patrols have been intensified along major highways in the state to curb further incidents and ensure the safety of travelers.
A family source, while expressing relief, thanked the police and local security networks for their prompt response, describing the experience as “traumatic but thankfully resolved.”
The police also reiterated their commitment to tackling kidnapping and violent crimes in the state, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements.

Edo State has witnessed a rise in abduction cases in recent months, particularly along major highways connecting to Delta and Kogi states. The government has since launched several joint security operations to restore safety in rural and transit corridors.
