EPL: Slot Backs Salah to End Goal Drought
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has thrown his full support behind star forward Mohamed Salah, expressing confidence that the Egyptian will soon rediscover his scoring form after a rare goal drought in the English Premier League (EPL).
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s next fixture at Anfield, Slot said Salah’s recent dip in goals is “nothing unusual” for top players, adding that the forward’s overall contribution to the team remains invaluable.
“Mo is a world-class player. Even when he doesn’t score, his work rate, movement, and leadership are crucial for us,” Slot said. “Every striker goes through moments like this, but I have no doubt he’ll be back on the scoresheet very soon.”
The Dutch manager noted that Salah has been instrumental in Liverpool’s attacking play this season, creating chances and drawing defenders away for teammates like Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz to exploit.
“He’s been involved in almost every attacking sequence. The goals will come — it’s just a matter of time,” Slot added.
Salah, who has been one of the Premier League’s most consistent scorers since joining Liverpool in 2017, has endured a few goalless games, sparking mild concerns among fans. However, his manager and teammates have publicly maintained their trust in his ability to deliver when it matters most.
Liverpool currently remain in the top four of the Premier League standings, and Slot emphasized the importance of team cohesion over individual statistics.
“Our focus is collective success. Mo’s goals have won us many games in the past, and I’m sure they’ll do so again this season,” he said.
