Lady Lured Online and Tied to Tree in Delta After Suspect Allegedly Transfers All Her Money
A young woman has been rescued after she was allegedly lured to a secluded bush area in Delta State by a man she reportedly met online, who then transferred all the money from her bank account and tied her to a tree.
According to local sources, the victim had been communicating with the suspect for some time after meeting him on a social media platform. The man allegedly convinced her to meet in person, claiming he wanted to formalise their relationship.
Upon arrival in Delta State, the woman was said to have been taken to a remote area under the pretext of visiting a private location. Sources alleged that the suspect then forced her to disclose her banking details and transferred funds from her account to unknown destinations.
After allegedly emptying her account, the suspect reportedly tied her to a tree in the bush and fled the scene, leaving her stranded.
The victim was later discovered by passersby who reportedly heard her cries for help. She was subsequently untied and taken to safety before the matter was reported to security authorities.
Police authorities in Delta State have yet to issue a detailed official statement, but sources indicate that an investigation has been launched to track down the suspect and recover the stolen funds.
The incident has sparked renewed concerns over the risks associated with meeting strangers met online, especially without proper background verification or informing trusted individuals of one’s whereabouts.
