Lagos Arrests 46 for Open Defecation in Sanitation Enforcement Drive
The Lagos State Government has arrested 46 individuals for alleged open defecation in various parts of the state as part of ongoing environmental sanitation enforcement.
According to state authorities, the arrests were carried out during routine monitoring operations by environmental task force officials. The enforcement exercise is aimed at curbing open defecation and promoting cleaner public spaces across Lagos.
Officials stated that the suspects were apprehended in areas identified as sanitation hotspots, including markets, road medians, and waterfront communities. The government reiterated that open defecation remains a public health risk, contributing to the spread of diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, and other waterborne infections.
