Life at Aso Rock lonely
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has admitted that life inside the Aso Rock Presidential Villa can often feel lonely and isolating, despite the prestige attached to the position.
Speaking during a women’s leadership forum in Abuja, the First Lady said the nature of governance and security restrictions around the Villa make it difficult to enjoy the warmth of everyday social interactions.
“Aso Rock may appear glamorous from the outside, but it can be lonely. You are surrounded by people, yet there’s a kind of emptiness because of the weight of responsibility,” she said.
She, however, emphasized that her faith and dedication to public service have kept her grounded, while urging women in leadership to embrace resilience and selflessness in their roles.
Analysts note that her candid remarks shed light on the personal sacrifices of political families, offering Nigerians a rare glimpse into life at the country’s seat of power.
