Mob Lynches Suspect as Police Recover AK-47 Rifles and Ammunition at Niger State Accident Scene
An angry mob has reportedly lynched a suspect after a road accident led to the discovery of weapons at the scene in Niger State.
According to security sources, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force recovered three AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and 104 rounds of ammunition from the accident site.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred after a vehicle was involved in an accident along a highway in the state. Following the crash, local residents reportedly rushed to the scene to render assistance.
During the process, firearms and ammunition were allegedly discovered inside the vehicle, triggering panic and anger among members of the community.
Sources indicated that one of the occupants was attacked by an enraged mob before security operatives could intervene. The individual was reportedly beaten to death.
Police authorities confirmed that three AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and 104 live ammunition were recovered from the vehicle involved in the accident.
The command stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the weapons, the identities of other suspects who may have escaped, and the intended use of the arms.
Officers also secured the scene and evacuated the recovered weapons to a safe location for forensic examination.
