Ogun Pastor Allegedly Kills Wife, Dies After Suspected Suicide Over Infidelity Claims
A tragic domestic incident in Ogun State has left a community in mourning after a Celestial Church of Christ pastor allegedly killed his wife during a dispute before reportedly taking his own life hours later.
The incident happened in the Ogooluwa community of Akiode Ibogun, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The pastor was identified as Bidemi Odukoya, the shepherd of the Celestial Church of Christ, Iri Orun Parish. He and his wife had reportedly lived in the community for several years and were known to local residents.
According to reports, the incident occurred during the early hours of Monday, August 31, after the couple became involved in a domestic argument.
Wife Found Dead After Midnight Dispute
Residents said the couple had experienced marital disagreements in the past.
Oluwatoyin Oseni, a neighbour, told reporters that the couple had frequently engaged in domestic disputes. She said one previous argument had been serious enough to involve the police.
According to her account, the couple had reportedly been experiencing problems for months before the latest incident.
The situation allegedly escalated at about 2am when Odukoya attacked his wife inside their home.
Neighbours were alerted after the couple’s 14-year-old son reportedly raised the alarm.
When residents arrived, they found the woman lying on the ground with severe injuries.
Reports said a machete and a wooden stool were allegedly used during the attack. The exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are still being investigated.

Pastor Dies on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway
After allegedly attacking his wife, Odukoya reportedly left the community.
He later travelled toward the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
According to reports, he was seen around the Coker Junction area of the Ifo section of the highway.
Witnesses reportedly said he moved around the road before entering the path of an approaching heavy-duty truck.
He died after the collision.
Authorities and residents subsequently recovered his remains.
The deaths of the husband and wife occurred within hours of each other, leaving their three sons without their parents.
Both bodies were reportedly buried near their residence on Monday evening.
Police Begin Investigation
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that it was aware of the case.
ASP Opeyemi Oluborode, the command’s Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, said the case file was being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a detailed investigation.
The investigation is expected to establish what happened inside the couple’s home, the events leading to the woman’s death and the circumstances surrounding Odukoya’s death on the expressway.
Authorities are also expected to examine the couple’s history of domestic disputes and determine whether previous complaints were made to law enforcement.

Chief Taiwo Akiode, the community’s Baale, described the deaths as an unprecedented tragedy for the area.
