Soldiers rescue kidnapped immigration officers Benue
Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued two immigration officers who were kidnapped in Benue State.
According to military sources, the officers were abducted by suspected armed bandits along a rural route while returning from official duty. Following an intelligence-led operation, soldiers tracked the captors’ hideout and engaged them in a gun duel, forcing the kidnappers to flee.
“The swift intervention of the troops led to the safe rescue of the immigration personnel without payment of ransom,” a security source confirmed.
The rescued officers are currently receiving medical evaluation and trauma support, while security operatives continue combing the area to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The operation underscores the military’s ongoing efforts to curb banditry and kidnapping in Nigeria’s North-Central region, where security challenges have intensified in recent years.
