Tinubu Decorates Disu as Acting IGP at State House Ceremony
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially decorated Kayode Egbetokun Disu as the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) during a ceremony held at the State House in Abuja.
The decoration ceremony, attended by senior government officials and top officers of the Nigeria Police Force, marked the formal assumption of duties by Disu in an acting capacity.
Speaking at the event, President Tinubu charged the new acting police chief to prioritise professionalism, intelligence-driven policing, and the restoration of public trust in law enforcement. He emphasised the need for improved security coordination to address rising criminal activities across the country.
Disu, in his remarks, pledged to uphold the rule of law and strengthen internal discipline within the force. He also assured Nigerians of renewed efforts to combat kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes.
The appointment comes amid ongoing security reforms and calls for enhanced policing strategies nationwide. Observers note that leadership transitions at the top of the police hierarchy often signal broader operational adjustments within the force.
Further details regarding policy direction and potential restructuring within the police are expected in the coming days.
