Bamidele Backs Oyebanji’s Re-election, Says Ekiti Needs Lagos-Style Continuity
The Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has declared full support for the re-election of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, emphasizing that sustained development in the state depends on political stability and policy continuity — similar to what he described as the “Lagos development model.”
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ado-Ekiti, Bamidele commended Governor Oyebanji for his performance in the areas of infrastructure, education, rural development, and job creation, saying his administration has laid a solid foundation for long-term transformation.
“Governor Oyebanji has shown capacity, humility, and integrity in leadership. His policies are people-centered and consistent with our party’s progressive ideals. Ekiti deserves a Lagos-style continuity that will allow these good policies to mature and deliver maximum impact,” Bamidele stated.
The Senate Leader urged political stakeholders and citizens to eschew distractions and unite behind Oyebanji to consolidate ongoing gains in governance and economic growth.
He cited Lagos as a successful example of how consistent governance under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its predecessors led to sustained urban transformation, investment inflows, and social development.
“Just as Lagos evolved into a model of good governance through uninterrupted policy direction, Ekiti can achieve similar results if we avoid political instability and give Oyebanji another term,” Bamidele added.
In his response, Governor Oyebanji thanked Bamidele for his support, assuring that his administration would continue to prioritize accountability, inclusive governance, and community-driven development projects.
Political observers note that Bamidele’s endorsement further strengthens Oyebanji’s standing within the APC as preparations build toward the next electoral cycle.
