Bandits Strike Oyo Farm, Kidnap Indian Worker, Kill Officer
A group of armed bandits launched a deadly attack on a farm in Oyo State, resulting in the abduction of an Indian expatriate and the killing of a police officer assigned to protect the facility.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when the attackers reportedly stormed the farm, shooting sporadically and overwhelming the security personnel on duty. The police officer, who attempted to repel the attackers, was fatally shot during the confrontation.
The abducted expatriate, whose identity has not been released, was working on the farm as part of an agricultural development project. Witnesses say the bandits fled into the nearby bushes, taking the victim with them.
Security agencies have since launched a manhunt for the suspects, with joint operations involving the police, local vigilantes, and other security units. Authorities have assured the public that efforts are underway to rescue the abducted expatriate and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The attack adds to the growing concerns about banditry and insecurity across parts of Nigeria, especially in rural farming communities.
