
Lagos fire outbreak two buildings
At least four people have been hospitalised after a fire outbreak gutted two buildings in Lagos State on Friday.
The incident, which occurred in the Balogun area of Lagos Island, destroyed property worth millions of naira and caused panic among residents and traders.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started in one of the buildings before spreading to the adjoining structure. Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), battled for hours to bring the situation under control.
Four victims who sustained injuries from smoke inhalation and burns were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. No deaths were recorded at the time of filing this report.
Officials said investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire, while shop owners have begun counting their losses.
The Lagos State Government has urged residents and business operators to adhere to safety guidelines and ensure proper electrical installations to prevent similar incidents.
