Ogun police arrest rider with fresh corpse
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a motorcycle rider after officers intercepted him while he was conveying a fresh human corpse. The incident occurred during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Ijebu Ode–Ibadan Expressway, where the rider’s suspicious behaviour drew the attention of the police.
According to officials, the man was transporting the body without any form of documentation or explanation that justified his actions. When questioned, he gave conflicting accounts, raising further concern about the circumstances surrounding the corpse. The police immediately took him into custody and secured the body as evidence.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police directed the Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case to determine the identity of the deceased, the cause of death, and whether the suspect is linked to any criminal activity. Authorities say the investigation will also look into possible connections to ritual practices or illegal transportation of bodies.
Police assured the public that they remain committed to maintaining safety and uncovering the truth behind the disturbing discovery. They also encouraged residents to report suspicious movements as the command intensifies surveillance across the state.
