Born Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs on July 11, 1942, Olu Jacobs built an acting career that lasted for more than five decades.
He was born in Kano and later travelled to the United Kingdom, where he trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
His early career included work in British theatre and television. He appeared in several well-known British productions, including The Goodies, The Professionals, The Tomorrow People and Barlow at Large.
He also appeared in international films before returning to Nigeria and becoming one of the major figures in the development of Nollywood.
