Police arrest kidnap suspects cannabis Kwara
The Kwara State Police Command has announced the arrest of several suspects linked to kidnapping and cannabis smuggling in different parts of the state.
According to the Commissioner of Police, the suspects were apprehended following intelligence-led operations across Ilorin East and Asa Local Government Areas. Among those arrested were members of a gang accused of abducting residents along rural roads.
In a separate operation, officers intercepted a vehicle carrying large quantities of cannabis sativa, allegedly being transported to neighboring states for distribution.
“Our officers are committed to ensuring that Kwara does not become a safe haven for criminals. We will continue to intensify patrols and surveillance,” the Commissioner stated.
The police said investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court once the process is concluded.
Security experts believe the arrests highlight the growing link between drug trafficking and kidnapping networks across Nigeria.
