Tinubu diaspora engagement
Vice President Kashim Shettima has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will soon roll out structured plans to deepen engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora.
Speaking at a diaspora stakeholders’ forum in Abuja, Shettima said the government recognizes the vital role of Nigerians abroad in driving remittances, investments, skills transfer, and international partnerships.
“President Tinubu is committed to building a strong bridge with our brothers and sisters abroad. We will create avenues for them to contribute more effectively to national development,” Shettima stated.
He added that the administration is working with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) to launch policies that will address diaspora concerns, including dual citizenship rights, business facilitation, and voting rights in future elections.
Nigeria currently receives over $20 billion annually in diaspora remittances, making it one of the top inflows in Africa. Analysts believe stronger diaspora engagement could boost Tinubu’s economic recovery agenda.
